  • Familiarity with the applicable civil rights, education, nonprofit, not-for-profit, tax-exempt organizations and trusts & estates laws of New Jersey, New York City, New York State and Pennsylvania.

  • Familiarity with the Pennsylvania Statutes Title 24 Chapters relating to higher education institutions, such as Chapters 3, 20, 28, 39, 52-53.

  • Typical tasks as outside counsel for educational institutions, including: assistance with the internal legal budget management; authors and revises manuals, policies, procedures, protocols, publications and website content regarding institutional activities and operations; development of legal strategies in anticipation of issues related to institutional activities operations; procures and manages consultants, outside counsel and subject matter experts (SMEs) as may be required for specialized legal actions; provision of general legal counsel and guidance to the administrators, officers and upper management of the institution; supervision of internal legal staff, including administrative staff, paralegals and lawyers, as may be required; training for administrators, officers and upper management regarding critical legal issues.
